The Nutcracker
- A classic ballet in two acts consisting of the 'real world' and a 'magical kingdom'
- Written by Marius Petipa who based it on E.T.A. Hoffmann's German tale
- It was first performed in 1892
- A widely popular ballet usually performed at Christmas time
Principle Characters:
- Clara - The young heroine
- Herr Drosselmeyer - Clara's eccentric Godfather
- The Nutcracker Prince - Clara's consort throughout her adventures in the Kingdom of Sweets
- The Sugar Plum Fairy - Who rules the land of the sweets
